Customized product development
Background:
One of our customers made a ventilation pipe used imported material from Japan
for a car model of a joint venture car maker. Because of the cooling effect after
the injection molding, the final product was 50mm shorter than the drawing size.
Although the product could be assembled eventually, the finally assembly was
not smooth. The JV car maker ordered our client to either remake the product or
lose the supplier qualification. After communicated with imported materials
manufacturer, our customer was told that the material manufacturer would not
change the material for our customer alone because the material was fine when
used in other car models in Japan. Customer found us and hoped our company
can provide a solution.
Results:
Our client was able to continue supplying products to its car manufacturer. Due
to price difference between our product and the imported product, our customer
saved up to 20% of the material cost.
